Oreck Vacuum Cleaners

The history of Oreck vacuum cleaners began in 1963 when David Oreck set up a manufacturing facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. They later moved their manufacturing to Long Beach, Mississippi, where they built a factory of over 300,000 square feet. The main focus in those early years was on creating vacuums for the hotel industry. Their early models were extremely strong, but also lightweight. There are thousands of hotels and similar businesses still using these vacuums today.

The Oreck vacuum cleaners were very durable, which allowed them to be used for many years. This allowed hotels to purchase vacuums once that didn’t need replacing even with constant use. As hotel staff continued to use the machines, they expressed interest in purchasing one for use in their own homes. Oreck responded by making a few models better suited for home use than commercial use.

The earliest of the Oreck vacuum cleaners was the XL model. This vacuum weighed just 8 pounds, but was durable enough for commercial or personal use. Estimates from the company said that this vacuum would last up to 18 years, which explained the high price tag. The specially formed handle also received an award from the Arthritis Foundation, who believed that this was a best bet for those with arthritis.

Oreck vacuum cleaners contain a special air cleaner and air purifier. The air cleaner pulls dust into the vacuum and helps reduce the pollen in the air. The debris that collects in the vacuum is then pushed back as negative ions to help cleanse the surrounding air. The air purifier further helps cleanse the surrounding air and emits a smaller ozone level than other similar models on the market.

Oreck vacuum cleaners range from the standard canister models to more powerful options. They make many products used by commercial businesses including waxing machines, finishers, wet/dry vacs, and even air purifiers. They also created a specialty cleaner for use on the collection grid in the air purifier part of their vacuums. This cleaner fully eliminates any dust and debris trapped in the machine, which helps it function better. The collection grid should be cleaned at least once every two months for optimum performance of the machine.

To help customers with their purchase, all Oreck vacuum cleaners come with a three year warranty. They also sell some reconditioned models that the company guarantees for one year. All of their models, including commercial vacuums, come complete with a top fill setup. The dust and debris caught by the vacuum goes into the bag starting at the top. The company believes this prevents the vacuum from getting clogged, and it makes it easier to take the bag out.

The bags themselves are self-sealing, meaning the bags seal automatically before they’re removed from the vacuum. This results in less mess and cleanup when taking the bag off. The company also guarantees that all of their vacuums are lightweight, while still remaining strong with heavy suction. Many of their models have 3-10+ times the suction as the weight of the vacuum. They’re also notable for American Express using their models in promotional and sales advertising.
