Eureka Vacuum Cleaners

After 100 years in business, the name Eureka still means quality products for a low price. Reasonable pricing and excellent customer service court attraction to the brand. For this reason and many others, people continue to return to the company year after year.

Brand History

The Eureka Vacuum Cleaner Company was founded in 1909 by Fred Wardell in Detroit, Michigan. By 1919, the company was creating 2000 units per day. Just a few short years later, Eureka had cornered about one-third of the United States vacuum cleaner market. They enjoyed this position until 1941, when they discontinued the commercial production of cleaners. Like many manufacturers of the time, Eureka turned their production focus to meeting the needs of the U.S. military during World War II.

Eureka began manufacturing gas masks and other products to support the war effort. Over the next several years, they merged with two different companies and produced all manner of furniture and appliances. Then in 1961, they produced the first electric car, called the Henney Kilowatt.

In 1974, the company was purchased by Electrolux, and went back to creating quality floor care products for the discerning consumer.

Popular Units

The Boss line of vacuums is the most successful ever created by the Eureka vacuum cleaner company. In the early ‘80s, Eureka released the first Boss machine, and it was an instant sensation, still popular today.

In an age where vacuum cleaners are climbing to $500 or more, many in the Eureka Boss line can still be purchased brand new for under $200. When compared to pricier models, this is a whole lot of vacuum for the price.

The Eureka 4870 GZ Boss Smart Vac is one of the most popular models in this line. Customers often compare it to the pricier Dyson DC 18 and find that the advantages offered by the Dyson model are not worth the higher price. Features of the 4870 include: *12-amp motor *Bagged dirt collection *HEPA filtration *Onboard tools including a crevice tool, dusting brush, and upholstery nozzle *Three stage dust trap system *30 foot cord *Bare floor brush *Extra long hose

Bags

Eureka manufactures both bagged and bagless varieties of their popular machines. The bags available depend a great deal on the model of Eureka vacuum cleaner that you own. Most models of Eureka vacuums have a micro filtration bag. These bags trap 99% of dust and allergens around the home, a must have for anyone with allergies or breathing problems.

Interesting Facts

Eureka puts much thought and research into creating powerful vacuums at reasonable prices for consumers. Adding the HEPA filtration and the three-stage dust trap system proves that they are committed to the health of the consumer as well. In 2008, Eureka received recognition for demonstrating a commitment to clean air in freight operations. When making the decision to purchase a new vacuum cleaner, make a list of the features and specifications that are important to you. Do some research on the various vacuum cleaners manufactured by Eureka, and you’re sure to find a machine that covers everything on your wish list.
