Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners

Dirt Devil is one of the best-selling vacuum brands in the United States. The history of Dirt Devil vacuums goes back to 1905, when The P.A. Geier Company began making Royal Vacuums in Cleveland, OH.  They were originally made by the founder in his back yard. The Royal brand also made other appliances, such as washing machines and hair dryers, but the vacuum cleaners were always their most popular product.

A hand held model was introduced in 1937, but the company didn’t begin selling the “Dirt Devil” line until the1980s. Originally, it was called “Royal Dirt Devil”, but as time went on, the word “Royal” appeared in smaller and smaller print until it disappeared entirely.

In 1984, the Dirt Devil Hand Vac was introduced. This became the top-selling handheld corded vacuum product and was the signature product for Royal Vacuums. More than 25 million of these have been sold. The Hand Vac has a rotating brush for easy cleanup of stairs and furniture and a hose for hard-to-reach spots. More suction and a built-in stretch hose distinguished the Ultra Hand Vac made in 1996. The Dirt Devil Classic Hand Vac was introduced in 2005, and has twice the power of the original Hand Vac. It also has a HEPA filter and a bagless dirt cup.

The Broom Vac was introduced in 1996 and became the best-selling stick vacuum in the United States. Stick vacuums offer powerful cleaning in a small vac. They are cordless, rechargeable, and are the perfect tool for quick cleanups.

Dirt Devil upright vacuums are available in a wide variety of choices, including both bagless and bagged models, as well as HEPA models. These are a great choice for mostly carpeted surfaces. A variety of tools are available.

For both carpeted and hard-surface floors, Dirt Devil offers several canister vacuums. Canister vacuums are good for people who don’t want to push around a full-size vacuum. The long wand is ideal for drapery cleaning.

For carpet cleaning, Dirt Devil offers numerous portable carpet shampooers and carpet extractors. These come in a wide variety of sizes and prices. There is even one product designed specifically for pet owners. This is called the Purpose for Pets Portable Extractor. There are also small models for spot scrubbing.

A special designer series is available which includes models with an elegant, sculptural form. These were designed by product designer Karim Rashid, and are so attractive they can be left out to display.

A new line of cordless handheld vacuums with AccuCharge Technology was introduced by Dirt Devil in June 2008. This technology is available in both handheld and stick vacuums, reducing energy consumption by 70% compared to most cordless vacuums. AccuCharge Technology combines a high-efficiency power supply with an intelligent charger, which prolongs the life of the battery over time.

Dirt Devil vacuums are a top of the line set of products that offer value for any household, and have a reputation for durability and quality. Dirt Devil definitely offers something for everyone. After all, “Nothing escapes the power of a Dirt Devil.”
